To facilitate your understanding and engagement, I will be organizing a series of community information sessions and meetings in the coming weeks and months. If we do nothing, our district will experience additional devastating cuts in every area of our schools, including staffing, program, athletics, busing, extracurriculars, and facility needs. By approving a permanent increase in the district operating budget, we can ensure the continued provision of exceptional educational opportunities and resources for our students. The shortfall we are facing requires immediate attention, and we believe it is essential to present this proposal to the community for consideration. Currently, the amount of the proposed increase would be $7 million but I am asking for your input on that specific amount.
To do that, the district will be putting forth a “public question” on the November 7 election ballot to permanently increase the operating budget of the district. After conducting a thorough analysis, it has become evident that a permanent increase in the district operating budget is necessary to avoid potential budgetary challenges that will have adverse effects on the quality of education we strive to provide.
